Amendment #2 to S1806

DTA Fraud investigations

Mr. Vieira of Falmouth moves to amend the bill by adding the following section:-

"Section XX.   Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, any funds recovered through an investigation conducted by the department of transitional assistance in relation to public benefit programs shall be disposed of by the comptroller in the following order to the extent that funds are available: (i) up to $2,000,000 shall be made available to line item 4400-1000 without further appropriation for the sole purpose of hiring additional investigators and expenses related to continued investigations to reduce waste, fraud, and abuse of public benefits and (ii) the remaining amounts to the General Fund.".
