Job Search Exemptions

Mr. Heroux of Attleboro moves to amend the bill in section 16 by striking lines 252 to 255, inclusive, and inserting in place thereof the following:-

“Section 13. (a) The department shall require all adult applicants who are not exempt from the work requirement to conduct an initial job search prior to receiving cash assistance unless the applicant has good cause for not participating as determined by the department, which may include the following hardships: disability, homelessness, inability to travel for a job search or job interview, caring for a family member with a disability, being the parent of guardian of a child not yet attending elementary school, being a woman in her third trimester of pregnancy, being past the age of retirement or too young to legally work, having recently experienced a fire, flood, or other natural or human-caused disaster that caused substantial damage to your property.”.
