Veteran License Renewal

Mr. Downing moves to amend the bill by adding the following new section: -

SECTION X. Section 33 of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting in line 146, at the end of clause 21, the following sentence:-

No fee shall be collected for a license or renewal thereof if the applicant is a veteran of the armed forces as defined by clause 43 of section 7 of chapter 4. The registrar shall annually report to the secretary of the department of veterans services the number of individuals qualifying under this section. The registry of motor vehicles shall promulgate such regulations as necessary to allow the department of veterans services use of the information gathered to improve, develop and deploy services.
