Increasing Fines for 209A Violations

Mr. Montigny moves to amend the bill by inserting at the end thereof the following new section:-

SECTION__. Section 7 of chapter 209A of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2012 Official Edition, is amended by striking out, in line 49, the words “ $25 that shall be transmitted to the treasurer for deposit into the General Fund” and inserting in their place the following:- $150 of which $25 shall be transmitted to the Treasurer for deposit in the General Fund of the Commonwealth and the remainder of the fine shall be transmitted to the treasurer and placed in a trust fund or account to be utilized to fund domestic violence counseling, education, residential and emergency shelter programs operated by non-profit domestic violence agencies and organizations.
