Ban on Fracking Wastewater Disposal

Ms. O'Connor Ives moves to amend the bill by adding the following item:

SECTION XX. Section 43 of chapter 21 of the General Laws is hereby amended by adding after paragraph 10 the following paragraph:-

(11) (a) “Hydraulic fracturing” Hydraulic fracturing” means the process of pumping a fluid into or under the surface of the ground in order to create fractures in a geologic formation for the purpose of the production or recovery of oil or gas.

(b) No person shall be permitted to collect, store, dispose of, or treat wastewater from hydraulic fracturing.
