LEED Standard

Ms. Creem, Messrs. Downing, Eldridge, Wolf, Barrett and Michael O. Moore and Ms. Jehlen move to amend the amendment by striking Section 7 as it so appears and inserting in place thereof the following:-

“SECTION 7. (a) In the design and construction of the BCEC Expansion Project, the Authority shall use its best efforts to achieve a certification of “LEED Platinum – New Construction” from the United States Green Building Council or an equivalent certification from a similarly recognized organization issuing certification for compliance with environmental and sustainability guidelines for design and construction, provided, however that said design and construction of the BCEC Expansion Project shall achieve a minimum certification of “LEED Silver – New Construction” from the United States Green Building Council or an equivalent certification from a similarly recognized organization issuing certification for compliance with environmental and sustainability guidelines for design and construction. In said design and construction, the Authority shall comply with the energy efficiency requirements of either: (1) the “Stretch Energy Code”, as defined in 780 CMR 115; (2) or the Massachusetts energy code in effect at the time of the application for building permit, whichever is more stringent.

(b) In the building operations and maintenance of BCEC structures constructed pursuant to chapter 152 of the acts of 1997, the Authority shall obtain a minimum certification of “LEED Silver - Existing Buildings” from the United States Green Building Council or an equivalent certification from a similarly recognized organization issuing certification for compliance with environmental and sustainability guidelines for building operations and maintenance.”
