Workforce Competitiveness Trust fund:

Messrs. Wolf and Donnelly, Ms. Chang-Diaz, Ms. Creem, Messrs. DiDomenico and Eldridge, Ms. Forry, Ms. Jehlen, Messrs. Michael O. Moore and Lewis, Ms. Spilka, Messrs. Joyce and Barrett, Ms. Lovely, Messrs. Finegold, McGee and Montigny move to amend the amendment in section 2A, in item 7002-1704, by inserting at the end thereof the following:- “; provided further that not less than $5,000,000 shall be expended to support job training aligned with the commonwealth's economic development strategy, including but not limited to the following: developing and implementing employer and worker responsive programs to enhance worker skills, incomes, productivity and retention and to increase the quality and competitiveness of Massachusetts firms; training and helping the unemployed find suitable employment; improving employment opportunities for low-income individuals, low wage workers; improving wages to a level sufficient to support a family or to place individuals on a career path leading to such employment and wages; training vulnerable youths and adults to master basic academic skills and encouraging them to advance educationally developing occupational skills and becoming employed in jobs that have career potential; and training older and displaced workers for new occupations”;

and in said item, by striking out the figure “$1,000,000” and inserting in place thereof the figure “$6,000,000”.
