Grants for Pilot Programs in Virtual Learning

Mr. Brownsberger moved that the proposed new text be amended in section 2, , by adding the following new item:-

"For grants to cities, towns and regional school districts for payments of certain costs and related expenses for pilot programs in virtual learning, and for the administration of such a grant program by the office of digital learning in the department of elementary and secondary education; provided further, that all grant applications submitted to and approved by the office of digital learning of the department of elementary and secondary education shall include a detailed line item budget specifying how such funds shall be allocated and expended; provided further, that grant recipients report to the office of digital learning in the department of elementary and secondary education about the effectiveness of their pilot programs; and provided further, that the reports of grant recipients be presented to the commissioner for consideration in fulfilling the commissioner’s obligations under Chapter 379 of the Acts of 2012 ..........................$2,000,000"
