Regional Tourism Council

Mr. Tarr moved that the proposed new text be amended moved that the bill be amended by inserting, after section__, the following new sections:-

“SECTION__. (a) Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, regional tourism councils (RTCs) shall be subject to the open meeting law as established under sections 18 through 25 of chapter 30A of the general laws and open meeting regulations as established under 940 CMR 29.00; RTCs shall also be subject to the regulations with regards to non-profits as established under 940 CMR 2.00; RTCs shall also be subject to chapter 268A of the general laws as amended by chapter 194 of the acts of 2011, and chapter 268B as amended by chapter 194 of the acts of 2011.

(b) The office of travel and tourism advisory commission as established under section 13H of chapter 23A shall investigate and report on the feasibility of regional tourism councils developing an uniform structure and standards on staffing and relationship with municipalities; also on reducing the number of regional tourism councils, and creating a streamlined membership process between regional tourism councils and non-member entities including but not limited to municipalities and non-profit organizations.

SECTION__. Section 10 of the chapter 152 of the acts of 1997 is hereby struck in its entirety."
