Amendment #14 to H2015
Relative to Voting
Mr. Hill of Ipswich moves to amend the order in House Rule 48, after line 998, by inserting the following two paragraphs:
“There shall be established a system that will allow for secure remote voting. The office of Legislative Information Services shall develop, by use of modern technology, a method for members absent from the House Chamber to cast votes remotely.
If the committee on Rules determines that the absence of the member is due to official business directed by the Speaker or ordered by the House, or due to hospitalization, it shall notify the Clerk of the approval of such applications. During the period of the absence of such member, the member will be allowed to cast roll call votes remotely using the technology developed by the office of Legislative Information Services.
