Amendment #211 to H3400

MBTA Independent OPEB and Pension Liability Audit

Representatives Jones of North Reading, Hill of Ipswich, Poirier of North Attleborough, Gifford of Wareham, Frost of Auburn and Smola of Warren move to amend the bill by adding the following new section:

 

“SECTION XX. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the office of the State Auditor shall contract for an independent audit to investigate the unfunded pension liabilities and other post-employment benefit liabilities of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority. The audit shall include a review of total liabilities to date, anticipated future liabilities, and recommendations to limit the liabilities and to increase efficiencies and transparency within said funds. Contracting of the audit must be done within 60 days of the passage of this act. The report shall be submitted to the House and Senate Committees on Way and Means, the Joint Committee on Public Service, the Joint Committee on Transportation and the House and Senate Clerk’s office no later than December 31, 2015.”.
