Dual Enrollment

Mr. Garballey of Arlington moves to amend the bill in section 2, in item 7066-0019, by striking out “For the department of higher education to support the dual enrollment program allowing qualified high school students to take college courses; provided, that public higher education institutions may offer courses in high schools in addition to courses offered at the institutions or online if the number of students is sufficient” and inserting in place thereof the following: -

“For the department of higher education to support the dual enrollment program allowing qualified high school students to take college courses; provided, that public higher education institutions may offer courses in high schools in addition to courses offered at the institutions or online; provided further that that the commissioner shall set aside fifty percent of funds in this item for competitive grants to support career pathway programs, which may include dual enrollment” and further by striking the figure “$750,000” and inserting in place thereof:- “$1,500,000”.
