Amendment #642 to H3400

Protection of Homeless Children -- Emergency Assistance

Representatives Decker of Cambridge, Rogers of Cambridge, Lawn of Watertown, Fox of Boston, Ashe of Longmeadow, Hecht of Watertown, Provost of Somerville, Barber of Somerville, Donahue of Worcester, Ultrino of Malden, Kocot of Northampton, Khan of Newton, Smizik of Brookline, Schmid of Westport, O'Day of West Boylston, Gentile of Sudbury and Toomey of Cambridge move to amend the bill in item 7004-0101 in section 2 by striking out the words “(d) families who are in a housing situation where they are not the primary lease holder or who are in a housing situation not meant for human habitation and where there is a substantial health and safety risk to the family that is likely to result in significant harm should the family remain in such housing situation; provided further, that the health and safety risk shall be determined by the department of children and families through risk assessments;” and inserting in place thereof the following new words:-

(d) families who are in a housing situation where they are not the primary lease holder, or who are in or within 24 hours of being in a housing situation not meant for human habitation, and where there is or would be a substantial health and safety risk to the family that is likely to result in significant harm should the family remain in or enter such housing situation; provided further, that the health and safety risk shall be determined by the department of children and families through risk assessments;
