Mr. Hunt of Boston moves to amend the bill in section 2, in item 4512-0200,  by adding the following: “Notwithstanding any special or general law to the contrary, not less than $150,000 shall be appropriated to develop and administer a pilot program to prevent and treat addiction to opioid and related substances. The pilot shall be administered by a community health center agency that administers licensed community health center sites in no less than three counties, one of which shall be Suffolk. The program shall include prevention and treatment for patients and professional support for primary care providers and shall include the use of tools to assess risk factors, the development of patient registries, the provision of pain management alternatives and the development of best practices protocols to assist primary care providers. The pilot program shall report to the Department of Public Health and the Ways and Means Committee six and twelve months after the initiation of the program”.
