Amendment #727 to H3400

Protecting state monies from Olympics bid

Representatives Straus of Mattapoisett, Linsky of Natick, Moran of Boston, Michlewitz of Boston, Schmid of Westport, Toomey of Cambridge, Gifford of Wareham, Farley-Bouvier of Pittsfield, Livingstone of Boston, Campbell of Methuen, Dooley of Norfolk, Provost of Somerville, Finn of West Springfield, Koczera of New Bedford and Gordon of Bedford move to amend the bill by adding the following section:-

 

SECTION XXXX.  Neither the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, department of transportation, department of conservation and recreation nor Massport shall lease, license, convey, option, pledge, encumber, transfer, dispose of or assign any advertising opportunities or facilities, billboards, signage, electronic signage, spaces or any other means used for advertising, or any revenue derived therefrom, to Boston 2024, the City of Boston, the United States Olympic Committee or the International Olympic Committee, or any affiliate or other entity acting on their behalf, as a condition to or in connection with any bid for or hosting of any Olympic or Paralympic Games; provided, that nothing contained in this section shall be construed to restrict the ability of Boston 2024, the City of Boston, the United States Olympic Committee or the International Olympic Committee, or any affiliate or other entity acting on their behalf, from purchasing advertising space at market rates from the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, department of transportation, department of conservation and recreation or Massport.
