Head Injury Treatment Services

Representatives Ferguson of Holden, Dykema of Holliston, Barrows of Mansfield, DiNatale of Fitchburg, Linsky of Natick, Cantwell of Marshfield, Khan of Newton, D'Emilia of Bridgewater, Cariddi of North Adams, Calter of Kingston, Schmid of Westport, Kelcourse of Amesbury, Madden of Nantucket, Rogers of Norwood and Stanley of Waltham move to amend the bill in section 2, in item 4120-6000, by inserting the following: “Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC) shall establish a pilot community center to be located in Worcester County by June 30, 2016 and, subject to the availability of funds, a pilot multi-service center to be located in the northeast section of the Commonwealth.  The Commonwealth shall designate the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC) as the central point of leadership to lead the state’s efforts in identifying and addressing the needs of individuals with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI).  MRC will design and implement a comprehensive needs assessment to identify and determine the specific needs of adults with ABI.  MRC will determine the needs assessment by statewide focus groups on ABI through collaboration with the Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts and other advocacy organizations representing persons with ABI and their families”; and in said item by striking out the figures “$14,923,533” and inserting in place thereof the figures “$16,923,533”.
