Amendment #9 to H4049

Vehicle Inspections

Ms. Cronin of Easton moves to amend the bill by striking out in SECTION 4, lines 156-163, section 2(b)(5) of Chapter 159A 1/2, and inserting in place thereof the following text:-

(5)  in consultation with the registry of motor vehicles, ensure the safety and annual inspection of transportation network vehicles; provided, that such regulations shall adhere as closely as possible to the standards that have been established by the registry of motor vehicles for noncommercial motor vehicle inspections and do not impose an undue burden on transportation network drivers; provided further, that in order to pass any inspection required by law or regulation, each transportation network vehicle shall have a model year no older than 10 years; provided further, that any such inspection shall be in addition to the annual vehicle inspection required for registered motor vehicles; provided further that transportation network vehicle inspection may be performed at any inspection station and by any inspector that is authorized to perform the annual vehicle inspection required by 540 CMR 4.03 and 540 CMR 4.04; and provided further that a transportation network driver shall submit a transportation network vehicle for a supplemental inspection within 90 days after the vehicle is first used by the transportation network driver to provide a prearranged ride.
