Amendment #1302 to H4200

Increasing Purchasing Transparency with Electronic Benefit Cards

Representatives Orrall of Lakeville, D'Emilia of Bridgewater, Frost of Auburn, Gifford of Wareham and Poirier of North Attleborough move to amend the bill by adding at the following new section:-

“SECTION X. Section 5I of chapter 18 of the General Laws, as most recently amended by chapter 161 of the acts of 2012, is hereby further amended by inserting at the end thereof the following new subsection:-

(e) Store owners shall invest in and seek to implement, within one year of the passage of this subsection, the automated technological capacity to sort out, at the point-of-sale terminal, items prohibited for purchase with electronic benefit transfer cards, or EBT cards, pursuant to this section.”
