Prostate Cancer Research

Representatives Cassidy of Brockton, Cronin of Easton, Calter of Kingston, Cantwell of Marshfield, Chan of Quincy, Cullinane of Boston, Devers of Lawrence, DuBois of Brockton, Gentile of Sudbury, Gonzalez of Springfield, Hill of Ipswich, Honan of Boston, Khan of Newton, Koczera of New Bedford, Kulik of Worthington, Linsky of Natick, Madaro of Boston, Mahoney of Worcester, Markey of Dartmouth, McGonagle of Everett, McMurtry of Dedham, Moran of Lawrence, O'Day of West Boylston, Peake of Provincetown, Poirier of North Attleborough, Puppolo of Springfield, Rogers of Cambridge, Sánchez of Boston, Sannicandro of Ashland, Schmid of Westport, Smizik of Brookline, Toomey of Cambridge, Vega of Holyoke and Walsh of Framingham move to amend the bill in section 2, by striking out item 4590-0925, and inserting in place thereof the following item:

 

“4590-0925 For the costs of a prostate cancer research integrated with awareness and education program focusing in particular on men with Afro-American and Hispanic heritage, family history of the disease, and other men at high risk; provided, that the department of public health shall oversee and manage said program and shall grant not less than eighty-five percent of the funds from this item to a non-profit foundation that manages the Manogram Project shall leverage existing partnerships with other state-funded non-profit organizations and current and past federally, state and privately funded prostate cancer programs aimed at saving lives, improving quality of life and reducing health care costs…………………………………….$1,000,000.00”
