Gateway Cities Public Safety Grant Program

Representatives Hay of Fitchburg, DiZoglio of Methuen, Benson of Lunenburg, Schmid of Westport, Ashe of Longmeadow, Cantwell of Marshfield, Mannal of Barnstable, Gonzalez of Springfield, Devers of Lawrence, Ultrino of Malden, Mom of Lowell, Moran of Lawrence, Tosado of Springfield and Rosa of Leominster move to amend the bill in section 2, in item 1599-0026, in line 5, by inserting after “2015” the following: “provided further, that $4,750,000 shall be transferred to the executive office of public safety and security for a competitive grant program for public safety and emergency staffing to be administered by that executive office; provided further, that the grants shall be awarded to Gateway Cities and communities that: (a) have populations of at least 60,000; and (b) demonstrate that their police or fire departments had an operating budget per capita of less than $200 in 2010.”
