Community Hospital Value Campaign

Mr. Cusack of Braintree moves to amend the bill by adding the following section: “SECTION XXX. In order to further state efforts to lower total medical expenses and meet the health care cost growth benchmark established under section 9 of chapter 6D of the General Laws, the health policy commission, in consultation with the state’s community hospitals, shall develop a marketing campaign to show the high value of community hospitals and the cost and quality benefits to patients and employers of seeking care in local settings.  The commission shall direct no more than $500,000 from the distressed hospital trust fund, established under section 2GGGG of chapter 29 of the General Laws, to fund the development and implementation of the marketing campaign.”
