Amendment #924 to H4200

To establish the HomeWorks program

Representatives Speliotis of Danvers, Cabral of New Bedford, Coppinger of Boston, McMurtry of Dedham, O'Connell of Taunton, Madaro of Boston, Whipps Lee of Athol, Mom of Lowell, Tosado of Springfield, Markey of Dartmouth and Orrall of Lakeville move to amend the bill in section 2, inĀ  item 7004-0101, by adding the following: "provided further that no less than $850,000 shall be expended to establish the HomeWorks program, which will provide for children currently in the emergency housing assistance program to attend out of school time and summer programming run by youth serving organizations; provided further, that said youth serving organizations will apply to contract with the Department in order to receive contract slots to serve said children.

Provided further that said out of school time and summer programs shall require that all staff members in employment and direct care of children in the program have completed satisfactorily a criminal background check that includes a comprehensive check of the National Sexual Offender Registry"; and in said item by striking out the figures "155,058,948" and inserting in place thereof the figures "155,908,948".
