Elimination of Dual Supervision by Parole and Probation

Mr. Brownsberger moved that the proposed new text be amended by inserting, after section 53, the following 2 sections:-

“SECTION 53A. The fifth sentence second paragraph of section 87A of chapter 276 of the General Laws is hereby amended by adding the following words:- , nor shall a fee be assessed upon a person for a period during which that person is incarcerated or under the supervision of the parole board.

SECTION 53B.  The second sentence of the seventh paragraph of said section 87A of said chapter 276 is hereby amended by adding the following words:-  , nor shall a fee be assessed upon a person for a period during which that person is incarcerated or under the supervision of the parole board.”; and

by inserting, after section 109, the following section:-

“SECTION 109A.  Section 53A and 53B shall apply to all sentences imposed on or after July 1, 2015.”
