Amendment #8 to S735

Implementation Study

Representatives Jones of North Reading, Hill of Ipswich, Poirier of North Attleborough, Gifford of Wareham, Frost of Auburn and Smola of Warren move to amend the bill by adding at the end the following new section:-

 

“SECTION XX. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, there is hereby established a special commission for the purposes of studying the implementation of this act. The commission shall consist of: the Governor or a designee, who shall serve as chair; the Attorney General or a designee; a representative of the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination; a representative from the Massachusetts Family Institute; and a representative from Freedom Massachusetts. The commission shall provide analysis on the costs of implementation, any relevant criminal statistics available, any information on pending legal actions caused by this act, best practices relative to compliance with this act, and any recommendations for further modifications. The commission shall file a report, one year following the implementation of the act, accompanied by any suggested legislation or regulatory changes, with the Joint Committee on the Judiciary and the Clerks of the House and Senate one year from the effective date of this act.”.
