Mr. Holmes of Boston moves to amend the bill after Section XX by inserting the following new section:-

SECTION XX. Section 42 of chapter 71 of the General Laws is hereby amended, by inserting after the seventh paragraph, the following paragraph:-

“In any district that does not use a seniority-based hiring model, any teacher with professional teacher status who has received notification of separation from their current position in said district, but remains employed by the district, shall have 2 hiring cycles, as defined by the school district, or 18 months, whichever is longer, from the date of the notification of separation to secure a posted teaching position in the district. Any such teacher who fails to secure a posted teaching position within said timeframe may be dismissed from employment, subject to the arbitration rules of this section.”
