Amendment #294 to H3600

Access to Official Absentee and Early Voting Data

Representatives Jones of North Reading, Hill of Ipswich, Poirier of North Attleborough, Gifford of Wareham, Frost of Auburn and Smola of Warren move to amend the bill by adding the following section:

“SECTION XX. Chapter 9 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2014 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting, after Section 31, the following section:-

Section 32. Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law to the contrary, the department of the state secretary shall make available to state parties all updated official absentee and early voter data prepared by the election officers and registrars of every city and town in the Commonwealth upon a state party’s request.  The request for access to official absentee and early voting data by a state party from the department of the state secretary shall not exceed one request per day and shall be for a nominal cost as determined by the department of the state secretary. The department of the state secretary may promulgate rules and regulations necessary for the implementation of this section.”
