Amendment #310 to H3600

UMASS Medical School-Baystate Health Partnership

Representatives Finn of West Springfield, Ashe of Longmeadow, Puppolo of Springfield, Williams of Springfield, Tosado of Springfield, Wagner of Chicopee, Velis of Westfield, Petrolati of Ludlow, Gonzalez of Springfield and Mark of Peru move to amend the bill in section 2, in item 1599-XXXX,  by adding the following:

"And provided further that one western Massachusetts regional academic health system shall receive a one-time payment of $3,400,000 to host a distinct educational track for a Massachusetts medical School focused on rural and urban primary care, population health and integrated health delivery.  This regional campus will focus on primary care in urban and rural settings as well as care for underserved urban and rural Medicaid-insured populations. The campus will address regional physician shortages and enhance access to preventive care by recruiting, training and retaining Massachusetts residents into careers in medicine, will foster a stronger and more stable regional western Massachusetts economy by attracting new professionals to the region, and will support long-term efforts to reduce healthcare costs by growing the region’s and the state’s primary care workforce."
