Amendment #691 to H3600

Beaches Banners

Representatives Vincent of Revere, Madaro of Boston, Crighton of Lynn, Meschino of Hull, Hunt of Boston and Wong of Saugus move to amend the bill by inserting after section 80 the following section:

“SECTION XX: Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary and for the purposes of generating revenue to support free events and recreational and educational programs at the Metropolitan Beaches, the Department of Conservation and Recreation shall enter into a long term lease agreement not to exceed 10 years with the Metropolitan Beaches Commission to provide for the management and design of display banners appurtenant to property owned and identified by the department within the jurisdiction of the Metropolitan Beaches as defined under Section 6 of Chapter 165 of the Acts of 2014. The lease term and other agreements shall be on terms acceptable to the commissioner of the department and the Co-Chairs of the Metropolitan Beaches Commission. The Commissioner expressly retains the authority, in consultation with a representative of the Metropolitan Beaches Commission and a representative of the local community where the banners are displayed, to review and approve any banner content associated with said lease agreement.”
