Amendment #73 to H3600

Salvage Vehicle Inspection Program

Mr. Puppolo of Springfield moves to amend the bill by adding the following section:-

“SECTION XX. There shall be established a special commission to study the Massachusetts Department of Transportation salvage vehicle inspection program, and potential solutions to increase the efficiency of the program, including, but not limited to, establishing; additional days for the provision of inspection services, an appointment scheduling system, an additional inspection fee, and the position of mobile inspector to provide inspection services on-site to persons with multiple vehicles requiring inspection.  The commission shall consist of the following members: the secretary of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, or a designee; the registrar of motor vehicles, or a designee; the colonel of the state police, or a designee; the house and senate co-chairs of the joint committee on transportation, or their designees; the house and senate co-chairs of the joint committee on public safety and homeland security, or their designees; the chair of the house committee on technology and intergovernmental affairs, or a designee; and the chair of the senate committee on intergovernmental affairs, or a designee. The commission shall report its findings, along with proposed solutions to increase the efficiency of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation salvage vehicle inspection program to the governor and the clerks of the house of representatives and the senate no later than March 1, 2018.”
