An Act designating the month of March as Massachusetts Maple Month.

Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to forthwith set apart the month of March as Massachusetts Maple Month and designate pure Massachusetts maple syrup as the official sweetener of the commonwealth, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience, therefore, it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.
 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Chapter 6 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after section 15FFFFFF, inserted by chapter 19 of the acts of 2018, the following section:-

Section 15GGGGGG. The governor shall annually issue a proclamation setting apart the month of March as Massachusetts Maple Month in recognition of the vital role maple sugaring plays in the agriculture industry, as well as the culture, heritage and economy of the commonwealth.  The proclamation shall commend the maple syrup producers that create a natural native sweetener and a versatile ingredient that adds unique flavor enhancing qualities to many dishes and shall recommend that the month be observed in an appropriate manner by the people.”; and by striking out, in the emergency preamble, the following language:- “and designate pure Massachusetts maple syrup as the official sweetener of the commonwealth”.
