Parental Notice Amendment

Representatives Cabral of New Bedford, Atkins of Concord and DuBois of Brockton move to amend the bill , in section 18, by inserting after the period, in line 78, the following words:- “Parents or legal guardians of students who are deemed eligible to enroll in an English language learner program may select any available English language learner program offered within the district”; by inserting after the period, in line 81, the following words:- “The student shall continue to be designated as limited English proficient and retain the right to return to an English language learner program at any time.”; and by inserting after the word “enrolled”, in line 91, the following words: “, provided that written confirmation of any such request is retained in the student’s cumulative folder.”.
