Appropriate Tax Rate

Representatives Vega of Holyoke, Barber of Somerville, Fernandes of Falmouth, Hecht of Watertown, Higgins of Leominster, Keefe of Worcester, Khan of Newton, Provost of Somerville and Rushing of Boston move to amend the bill by striking Section 27(a) and (b), in lines 1192-1200, and inserting in place thereof, the following:-

“Section 27. (a) A cannabis retailer shall pay a daily tax of 6.25 per cent on gross cannabis revenue.

All sums collected or received by the commissioner of revenue pursuant to this subsection shall be deposited in the Cannabis Revenue Fund.

(b) In addition to the tax imposed by subsection (a), a cannabis retailer shall pay a daily tax of 6.25 per cent on gross cannabis revenue.

All sums collected or received by the commissioner of revenue pursuant to this subsection shall be transferred by the commissioner of revenue to the treasurer of the host municipality from which the revenue was collected at least monthly.
