An Act designating a certain park in the city of Quincy as the Richard "Dick" Herbert Memorial Park.

Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to designate forthwith a certain park in the city of Quincy, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

The park adjacent to Wollaston beach in the city of Quincy, situated immediately to the northeast of the intersection of East Squantum road and Quincy Shore drive, shall be designated and known as the Richard ‘Dick’ Herbert Memorial Park, in recognition of his advocacy for the beautification and maintenance of public beaches, and in particular his role in establishing and leading the Friends of Wollaston Beach organization. The department of conservation and recreation shall establish the boundaries of the park; provided, however, that the park shall not include Moswetuset hummock, designated as a historic site in the National Park Service National Register of Historic Places. The department shall erect and maintain suitable markers bearing the designation in compliance with the standards of the department.
