Amendment #1062 to H4400

Massachusetts Academy of Math and Science

Mr. Mahoney of Worcester moves to amend the bill in section 2 by striking out item 7061-9624 and inserting in place thereof the following item:

“7061-9624      For the school of excellence program, the Massachusetts Academy of Math and Science, at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute; provided, that every effort shall be made to recruit and serve equal numbers of male and female students; provided further, that sending districts of students attending the Academy shall not be required to expend any funds for the cost of these students while in attendance at the Academy; provided further, that the Massachusetts Academy of Math and Science at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute shall provide salary and benefits for staff including master teachers and visiting scholars; provided further, that the academy shall file an annual report with the joint committee on education and the house and senate committees on ways and means not later than January 28, 2019; and provided further, that the department of elementary and secondary education shall provide a subsidy to the Worcester Polytechnic Institute to operate the Massachusetts Academy of Math and Science …………. $1,600,000”.
