Student & School Assessment (MCAS)
Ms. Peisch of Wellesley moves to amend the bill by striking out section 7061-9400 and inserting in place thereof the following section:
“7061-9400 For student and school assessment including the development and implementation of related curriculum standards and instructional support, including the administration of the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System exam established by the board of elementary and secondary education pursuant to sections 1D and 1I of chapter 69 of the General Laws; provided, that the department of elementary and secondary education shall expend funds for school and student assessment in accordance with the determination made by the board of elementary and secondary education as to the method of assessment in the 2018-2019 school year; provided further, that funding may be expended for the development of new high school assessments and assessments in history and social science; and provided further, that all school assessments shall center on the academic standards embodied in the curriculum frameworks and shall involve measures which shall be relevant and meaningful to students, parents, teachers, administrators, and taxpayers pursuant to the first paragraph of said section 1I of said chapter 69……………………………..$32,134,648”
