Amendment #1284 to H4400

Intern Stipends

Representatives McMurtry of Dedham, Cutler of Duxbury, Cahill of Lynn, Gordon of Bedford, Smizik of Brookline, Ultrino of Malden, Rogers of Cambridge, Koczera of New Bedford, Lewis of Framingham, Gentile of Sudbury, Vargas of Haverhill, Connolly of Cambridge and Kane of Shrewsbury move to amend the bill by adding the following new section:-

"SECTION XXXX.  Section 9B of chapter 3 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2014 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following paragraph:-

Each member of the general court shall receive $1,000 annually in order to provide a stipend to any intern serving in the member’s office; provided, however, that no member shall receive more than 1 stipend allocation annually; and provided further, that any portion of such stipend not disbursed to interns shall be returned to the state treasurer on or before July 1.".
