Amendment #1291 to H4400

Active Shooter Gunshot Detection

Representatives McMurtry of Dedham, Ashe of Longmeadow, Garry of Dracut, Ultrino of Malden, Rogers of Cambridge and Dooley of Norfolk move to amend the bill by adding the following new section:-

"SECTION XXXX Notwithstanding any general of special law to the contrary the Massachusetts School Building Authority, in conjunction with the Massachusetts Department of Education, shall promulgate, rules, regulations and guidelines for the inclusion of installation plans of an indoor active shooter gunshot detection and alerting system for school projects eligible for school building assistance for construction, renovation, or repair of municipally or regionally owned school facilities.   No proposed project shall be considered an approved project after June 30th, 2019 unless an indoor active shooter gunshot detection and alerting system is part of the overall security measures taken to safeguard the facility and its occupants." .
