Amendment #1321 to H4400

County Insurance Reimbursements for Fire Safety

Representatives Orrall of Lakeville, Cassidy of Brockton, Vieira of Falmouth, Galvin of Canton, D'Emilia of Bridgewater, Crocker of Barnstable, Chan of Quincy, Gifford of Wareham, Barrows of Mansfield, Cusack of Braintree, Diehl of Whitman, O'Connell of Taunton, Dooley of Norfolk, Howitt of Seekonk and Markey of Dartmouth move to amend the bill in section 2 by inserting after item 8324-0500 the following item:

“XXXX-XXXX Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, 100 per cent of the amount appropriated in this item for the administration of the department of fire services, the state fire marshal's office, the Massachusetts firefighting academy, Critical Incident Stress Management programs, the On-Site Academy shall be assessed upon insurance companies writing fire, homeowners multiple peril, or commercial multiple peril policies on property situated in the commonwealth, and paid within 30 days after receiving notice of this assessment from the commissioner of insurance;...provided that no less than $100,000 shall be expended for the Fire Chiefs Assn of Norfolk County; provided that no less than $100,000 shall be expended for the Fire Chiefs Assn of Plymouth County; provided that no less than $100,000 shall be expended for the Fire Chiefs Assn of Bristol County; provided that no less than $100,000 shall be expended for the Fire Chiefs of Barnstable County;...$400,000"
