Amendment #497 to H4400

Under 21 Driver's License

Representatives Jones of North Reading, Hill of Ipswich, Poirier of North Attleborough, Gifford of Wareham, Frost of Auburn and Smola of Warren move to amend the bill by adding the following section:-

“SECTION XX. Section 8 of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2016 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting, after the last paragraph, the following:-

An applicant for a license renewal, who is turning twenty-one years of age, shall be eligible to complete application materials, in such form as may be prescribed by the registrar, 40 days prior to the applicant’s twenty-first birthday. The registrar shall charge a fee of $35, in addition to the cost of license renewal, for applicants who choose to renew their license early.”.
