ASOST-Q Grant (Quality Enhancements in Afterschool and Out-of-School Time [ASOST-Q] Grant)
Representatives Benson of Lunenburg, Higgins of Leominster, Farley-Bouvier of Pittsfield, Stanley of Waltham, Mahoney of Worcester, Koczera of New Bedford, D'Emilia of Bridgewater, Cutler of Duxbury, Silvia of Fall River, Vargas of Haverhill, Puppolo of Springfield, Khan of Newton, Smizik of Brookline, Walsh of Framingham, Linsky of Natick, Ultrino of Malden, Lewis of Framingham, Rogers of Cambridge, Tosado of Springfield, Hecht of Watertown and Vega of Holyoke move to amend the bill in section 2, in item 7061-9611, in line 14, by inserting after “language” the following: “provided further that no less than $3 million be used for the creation of summer learning access programs in cities and towns across Massachusetts giving preference to Gateway Cities, as defined by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education”; and in said item, in line 31, by inserting after “community partnerships” the following: “provided further, that not less than $100,000 shall be expended for the operation of a pilot data-sharing program designed to provide school districts with funds to partner with local community-based organizations and share identifiable student data to the extent allowed by law; provided further, that the pilot program shall be for not more than 3 years; provided further, that the afterschool and out-of-school time coordinating council shall recommend funds to 2 school districts for the pilot program; provided further, that the afterschool and out-of-school time coordinating council shall conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis on the pilot data sharing program; provided further, that the Massachusetts afterschool and out-of-school time coordinating council shall file a report on the effects of the pilot program on students participating in the programs partnered with the school districts with the clerks of the senate and the house of representatives and the chairs of the senate and house committees on ways and means not later than December 31, 2019”; and in said item by striking out the figures “$2,376,923” and inserting in place thereof the figures “$5,500,000”.
