Amendment #747 to H4400

LGBT Training

Representatives Peake of Provincetown, Khan of Newton, Rogers of Cambridge, Hecht of Watertown, Farley-Bouvier of Pittsfield, Connolly of Cambridge, Ultrino of Malden, Vargas of Haverhill, Malia of Boston, Balser of Newton, Whipps of Athol, O'Day of West Boylston, Hogan of Stow, Lewis of Framingham, Gordon of Bedford, Garlick of Needham, Tosado of Springfield, Cutler of Duxbury, Ashe of Longmeadow and Higgins of Leominster move to amend the bill by adding the following new section:

 

SECTION XX.  Chapter 19A of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2014 official edition, is hereby amended by inserting after section 41 the following section:- “Section 42. The department shall develop a curriculum and training program on the prevention and elimination of discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression and on improving access to services for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender elders and caregivers.  The training program shall be completed by all providers of services who contract with or receive funding from the department, Aging Service Access Points or the MassHealth Office of Long Term Care, or whose services are certified by the department.

 

The training curriculum established pursuant to section 42 of chapter 19A of the General Laws shall be completed within 9 months of enactment of the legislation and a provider shall commence the training program within 12 months of employment.
