Amendment #776 to H4400

DOC Reentry Services/Education Programming

Representatives Khan of Newton, Smizik of Brookline, Vega of Holyoke, Walsh of Framingham, Carvalho of Boston, Campbell of Methuen, Rogers of Cambridge, Garballey of Arlington, Gordon of Bedford, Cutler of Duxbury, Keefe of Worcester, O'Connell of Taunton, Dykema of Holliston, Ultrino of Malden, Hecht of Watertown, Crocker of Barnstable, Provost of Somerville, Tosado of Springfield, Mom of Lowell, Gentile of Sudbury, Ashe of Longmeadow, Vargas of Haverhill, Holmes of Boston and Connolly of Cambridge move to amend the bill in section 2, in item 8900-1100, in line 8, by inserting after the word “programs” the following: “; and provided further, that not less than $80,000 shall be expended for the department of correction to cover costs associated with coordinating and supporting partnerships with higher education institutions that provide post-secondary education programs in state prisons”; and in said item by striking out the figures "$500,000" and inserting in place thereof the figures "$580,000".
