Amendment #914 to H4400
Relative to internet privacy protections
Mr. Straus of Mattapoisett moves to amend the bill by adding the following section:-
SECTION XXXX. The General Laws, as appearing in the 2016 Official Edition, are hereby amended by adding after chapter 93K the following chapter:-
Chapter 93L.
Section 1. Individually identifiable customer proprietary network information, including but not limited to website browsing history and application usage, derived from a customer’s use of an internet access service, whether by wire or radio, shall not be used to determine: (i) a Massachusetts resident’s credit or insurance rating; (ii) the interest rate applicable to a loan or other credit facility issued to a Massachusetts resident; or (iii) the insurance policy premium to be paid on an insurance policy issued to a Massachusetts resident.
Section 2. A violation of any of the provisions of this chapter shall constitute a violation of chapter 93A.
