Amendment #980 to H4400

No-Fee State IDs for Low-Income People

Representatives Ultrino of Malden, Smizik of Brookline, Provost of Somerville, Gentile of Sudbury, Rogers of Cambridge, Garry of Dracut, Tosado of Springfield, Lewis of Framingham, DuBois of Brockton and Muratore of Plymouth move to amend the bill by adding the following section:

"SECTION XXXX.

SECTION 1. Section 8 of Chapter 90 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after the words "age of 70." the following sentence:-

No fees associated with an application for a license shall be charged for a person at or below 300 per cent of the federal poverty guidelines.

SECTION 2. Section 8E of said chapter is hereby amended by inserting after the words "age of 70." the following sentence:-

No fees associated with an application for an identification card shall be charged for a person at or below 300 per cent of the federal poverty guidelines."
