Exempting small and local businesses

Ms. Jehlen, Messrs. Eldridge and Fattman move to amend the bill in section 1, by inserting, in line 25, after the word “district.” the following sentences:-

A municipality may classify all small businesses, as defined by the municipality, as exempt property when approving the petition to establish a new community benefit district.  A municipality may classify any businesses operating in the same location for more than 5 years as exempt property when approving the petition to establish a new community benefit district.
