The committee on Ways and Means to whom was referred the Senate Bill relative to the Springfield Technology Park (Senate, No. 209),-- reports, recommending that the same ought to pass with an amendment substituting a new draft with the same title (Senate, No. 2674).

An Act relative to the Springfield Technology Park.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. The definition of “site” in subsection (b) of section 125 of chapter 273 of the acts of 1994, is hereby amended by striking out, in line 11, the words “computer science department of the”.
SECTION 2. Said definition of “site” in said subsection (b) of said section 125 of said chapter 273 is hereby further amended by striking out, in line 14, the words “Center for Advanced Fiberoptic Applications” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- Massachusetts Technology Park Corporation.
SECTION 3. Subsection (c) of said section 125 of said chapter 273 is hereby amended by striking out paragraph (2) and inserting in place thereof the following paragraph:-
(2) The corporation shall be governed by a board of directors, which shall consist of: 3 persons to be appointed by the governor, 1 of whom shall be experienced in financial aspects of real estate development and management, 1 of whom shall be experienced in planning and 1 of whom shall be experienced in college administration; 1 person to be appointed by the secretary of the executive office of housing and economic development; 4 persons to be appointed by the board of trustees; 1 person to be appointed by the Springfield Regional Chamber of Commerce; the president of the college, who shall serve ex officio; the mayor of the City of Springfield, or a designee, who shall serve ex officio; and the planning director of the City of Springfield, who shall serve ex officio.
SECTION 4. Paragraph (5) of said subsection (c) of said section 125 of said chapter 273 is hereby amended by inserting after the word “site” the following words:- ; and (iii) to grow and promote the telecommunications, information technology and manufacturing sectors of the commonwealth’s economy.
