Repairs to catastrophic home damage

Ms. L'Italien and Mr. Timilty move to amend the bill by inserting the following new section:-

SECTION X.  Subsection (k) (3) of section 6 of chapter 62 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2016 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking clause (i) and inserting in place thereof the following clause:- (i) the taxpayer's total income does not exceed $40,000 for a single individual who is not the head of household, $50,000 for a head of household, and $60, for a husband and wife filing a joint return, provided that total income shall not include income derived from the early withdrawal of a certificate of deposit or other investment vehicle that is withdrawn for the sole purpose of paying for a major home repair including but not limited to a boiler, roof, or water heater; and "
