Clinically Appropriate Detox Protocols

Mr. Cyr moves that the proposed new text be amended by adding the following section:-

SECTION X. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the department of public health, in consultation with the department of corrections, shall form a working group to report on best practices regarding specific standardized treatment protocol for opiate detoxification in corrections settings. The standardized treatment protocol shall include medically supervised and assisted detoxification, including but not limited to clinically appropriate medication assisted treatment. The commission shall report recommendations under this section no later than January 1, 2019.
