The 400th Anniversary of America's Hometown

Mr. Cyr moved that the amendment be amended in section 2, in item 7008-0900, by further amending the underlying text by inserting after the words “private funding” the following:-

"; provided further, that not less than $200,000 shall be expended for Provincetown 400, Inc. for the commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the founding of the United States, provided that said program shall provide a matching amount of at least $200,000 in private funding"

And moves to further amend the underlying text by striking out figure “$429,361” and inserting in place thereof the figures “$629,361”.

And moves to further amend the underlying text in SECTION 2 by adding, after the words "Massachusetts Historical Commission." the following:-

"SECTION 3. The Provincetown 400, Inc. shall work in collaboration with the Massachusetts Historical Commission and State Archives to create, design and fund in part costs associated with the Provincetown 400th Anniversary Celebration

SECTION 4.   For the creation of the “Provincetown 400 Preservation Grants”, a program of small 50/50 matching grants that meets the Secretary of the Interiors standards for rehabilitation, to enhance the appearance of National and State listed properties in the downtown area for the Provincetown 400th   that shall be administered by the Massachusetts Historical Commission."

And moves to further amend the underlying text by striking SECTION 3 and SECTION 4 and inserting in place thereof the following:-

"SECTION 5.  A line item shall be established in the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s Office to fund a portion of the costs associated with the programs created in Sections one, two, three, and four in the amount of $500,000.

SECTION 6.  This Act shall take effect upon passage.”
