The 400th Anniversary of America's Hometown

Messrs. deMacedo and Cyr moved that the proposed new text be amended in section 2, in item 7008-0900, by adding at the end thereof the following:-; "provided further, that not less than $200,000 shall be expended for Plymouth 400, Inc. for the commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the founding of the United States; provided further, that Plymouth 400, Inc. shall provide a matching amount of at least $200,000 in private funding; provided further, that not less than $60,000 shall be expended for the secretary of the commonwealth to fund a portion of the costs associated with the Plymouth 400th Anniversary Celebration which may include new signage from Route 3 to Plymouth’s downtown, distinctive plaques for National Register/State Register listed properties in Plymouth’s downtown area, the design and printing of a walking tour pamphlet of the National/State listed historic properties in Plymouth’s historic downtown, the creation of a cell phone walking tour of the historic downtown, the listing of the Mayflower ll, on the National Register of Historic Places and additional signage on roadways in and out of the historic downtown area of Plymouth to better locate listed National Register/State Register properties and for the creation of the Plymouth 400 Preservation Grants, a program of small 50/50 matching grants that meets the secretary of the interiors standards for rehabilitation, to enhance the appearance of National and State listed properties in the downtown area for the Plymouth 400th that shall be administered by the Massachusetts historical commission”; and in said item, by striking out the figures “$229,361” and inserting in place thereof the figures “$489,361”.
